Valerie starts out as an A-List, popular girl. Her dad works as a security director for Axion Labs, which brings in a lot of money that she then spends on all the latest in expensive fashion. Then, Danny Phantom ruins her life. When she’s given weapons by Vlad Masters, she swears to enact revenge on all ghosts, the ghost boy in particular for her fall from popularity.

But she adapts pretty easily to her new life, nonetheless. Eventually, the old hatred for the losers softens when she bonds with Danny during a class project. She’s more focused on school and finding the ghost boy than she is on her popularity. She even forms a temporary truce with her worst enemy. During the fight with Pariah Dark, her relationship with both Dannys evolves enormously. She develops a crush on the human, and her truce with the ghost is broken.

She and Danny finally work on their romantic involvement. Her dad has discovered her ghost hunting lifestyle and has forbidden her from doing it. Her equipment is destroyed but is soon replaced by a new one from Technus. She ends her budding relationship with Danny to pursue ghost hunting and to keep the defenseless boy out of harm.

Her plot thickens however, after she encounters Danny's "cousin", Dani. In dealing with the destabilized clone girl, Valerie learns about half-ghosts. Somehow Danny's identity remains safe.... but then she spies upon her ghost-hunting employer Vlad Masters...
