Perhaps the single most horrible pun in the entire show, with the possible exception of Danny's axe puns. Unlike many of the Fentons' devices, the BOOmerang is a bit tough to classify as either a weapon or a tracking device. Jack says it locks on to a ghost's ecto-signature and tracks it down, but its uses as an actual ghost-hunting weapon are questionable given its only known offensive capability is to smack the ghost upside the head. This ability is amply demonstrated, with Danny being hit by it three times in The Ultimate Enemy, and Vlad being nailed with it in Kindred Spirits. In both cases though, the impact has little detrimental affect.

The BOOmerang's unusually accurate tracking has been used so far for things that Jack likely did not envision for the device. Jazz used it first as a time capsule and message carrier of sorts by lashing a note to it and throwing it into the Ghost Zone, where Danny found it ten years in the future. (Or rather, it found him!) Sam and Tucker later used it to track Danny to Vlad's Colorado mansion after they witnessed Danny being dragged off. This does raise some concern about continuity, as Danny carelessly tossed the BOOmerang away after getting Jazz's note in The Ultimate Enemy. So how is it back in the Fentons' lab in Kindred Spirits?
