It's common for fans of anything to develop their own slang and terms for things. The result can often baffle newcomers, leaving them as confused as though they were trying to learn a whole new language. - Amethyst Ocean (n., adj.)- A name sometimes used to describe fanworks featuring Danny and Sam as a romantic couple, drawing its name from the characters' eye colors.
- Anti-fan (n.)- Unlike most fandoms in which an "anti-fan" is someone constantly decrying a show, in the Danny Phantom fandom the term isused to describe fans who deviate drastically from the show's
canon. (Usually involving homosexual fanworks, but applying also to
extreme deviations from canon in general.)
- APN (n.)- Abbreviation for "AmityPark.net", used in reference to that website as well as its forums.
- BHF (n.)- Abbreviation for "Butch Hartman Forum", the personal forum of show creator Butch Hartman. Other common abbreviations include "OBHF" and "OBHOF."
- Butchesque (adj.)- A drawing and coloring style reminiscent of Butch Hartman's character designs, as in FoP or DP.
- Clone!Sue (n.)- A generic character archetype in DP fanfiction in which a new character is a
clone of Danny, commonly called Danielle in stories. The use of this
form of Sue was stifled when a canon clone named Danielle appeared in
Kindred Spirits, but was once widely used. Generally intended as a derogatory term.
- Crack (n., adj.)- A term used in various fandoms to describe fanworks that are extremely deviant from the canon, or simply do not make sense. Alternatively implies that the work itself is "cracked", or that the artist/author or person looking at it needs to be on medication.
- DPO (n.)- Abbreviation for "Danny Phantom Online", both in reference to the website as well as its forums.
- DPOC (n.)- Abbreviation for "Danny Phantom Online Community", specifically referring to the Danny Phantom Online website's forums and chat room.
- DPOF (n.)- Abbreviation for the "Danny Phantom Online Forums", a G-rated forum community. Used sometimes in reference to the "Danny Phantom Online Forum Picture Archive" website as well.
- Gray Ghost (n., adj.) - A name sometimes used to describe fanworks featuring Danny and Valerie as a romantic couple, drawing its name from Valerie's last name and Danny's ghostly status.
- Halfa (n.)- Shorthand slang for "half-ghost." Brought into common usage by Poindexter in the episode Splitting Images. Despite only being used once by that character, many fans use it to describe half-ghost characters.
- Halfa!Sue (n.)- A generic character archetype in DP fanfiction. The character normally has
similar family experiences as Danny, and stumbled upon ghost powers in
the same way. Generally intended as a derogatory term.
- Pitch Pearl (n., adj.)- A name sometimes used to describe fanworks featuring Danny's human and ghost halves in some sort of relationship, drawing its name from Danny's hair color in both forms. Often a source of controversy between "Anti-fans" and "True-fans."
- Phan (n.)- A slang term for "a fan of Danny Phantom."
- Phandom (n.)- A slang term for the Danny Phantom fandom or a large group of Phans.
- Phantard (n.)- A derogotory or self-depreciating term for "an avid fan of Danny Phantom."
- Real-fan (n.)- 1. A member of the Danny Phantom: Real Fans clubs on DeviantArt or GaiaOnline. 2. A fan who adheres to a policy of mutual tolerance and agrees not to harass or
disrespect another fan, regardless of ideological differences. Sometimes called "Fandom hippies."
- Slash (n., adj.)- Term used to describe fanworks containing homosexual content. Often a source of controversy between "Anti-fans" and "True-fans."
- True-fan (n.)- A term used to describe fans who adhere strictly to the show's canon and/or Butch Hartman's wishes regarding it. There is a history of problems in the Phandom between "Anti-fans" and "True-fans"
