Been meaning to respond to this, as I HAVE been reading a few of the chapters since I'd stopped posting here for... how many months now? Anyway, i figured I read the rest of your stories, I might as well see the last TDPS through to the end. I still need to read a couple of the most recent chapters, but what I've read so far has been consistently funny.

And now the titles aren't even fully making sense. But at least I finished this! It's just getting more WUT and headache-y by the line...=3=;

PARSED LEADS, SAGES, ROADS BURIED IN TIME�YOU DID NOT JUST MAKE THAT LAME OF A PUN

The human Seth, Marmel, and Butch looked on as the rest fought, even their �toon selves.

�If I wanted to do this this much �� Ford began in the midst of knocking another monster off its feet �I�d buy a fifteen-year World of Warcraft subscription! �I could do it, I�ve got the money!�

�What�s the matter?� Leo began with a smirk, slinging another few wolves aside with his Immediate Res, �Getting too old for this shit?�

�Getting too bored with this shit,� Harrison clarified, elbowing and punching yet another monster behind him.

Hitting the ground running, Chris said nothing, sideswiping one beast with another Sonic Screw before giving it a hard kick that sent it barreling into another. �It�s good exercise!� he said breathlessly, �I�ll tell you that!�

�Okay, okay�� Rob began, flat palms raised, letting his arms drop slowly, �One more time �� looking at Dave �you got it?�

�I got it,� Boreanaz said with a nod.

�You GOT it?�
�I GOT it.�
�Okay, good.�

Joining hands, the pair shouted loudly in unison again.

�We�ll figure it out together somehow!�

Downey Jr. grinned, seeing the armor return � however, his jaw slacked a bit when the nineteenth century shirt, tie, coat, and fedora appeared as well, the two costumes applying themselves one after the other, making for a neat if odd look.

Dave�s clothing sets intertwined similarly. Blinking, he looked down at himself, then briefly feeling the points of his canines with his tongue. �So I�m an all-American�vampire�FBI agent�� Pausing, �Cool!� Turning to Rob, he added �You look like Sherlock Holmes from the twenty-third century!�

�Actually, it�s the twenty-second century � and Watson was the robot in that one,� Downey Jr. replied coolly, in an only-very-lightly-affected British accent, if not a simply more �pronounced� version of his normal voice.

Brow rising, Boreanaz asked �Why do you KNOW that?�

Rolling his eyes, Rob shifted into full American, with a look of wide-eyed faux shock. �Maybe I looked it up on the internet! I can do that, y�know!�

�And why were you �looking up� a nineties� cartoon for research for a more�accurate portrayal of Conan Doyle�s classic literary character?�

Now Downey Jr. raised a brow.

�Sorry�awesome FBI grillin� skills,� Dave explained with a smirk, miming flipping a couple steaks on a grill before prodding him a few times with the tongs.

Deadpanning, Rob said �Shut up and fight.�

As if a freeze frame had been lifted, they whirled around both facing off against a handful of the innumerable ubiquitous creatures. In the pocket of his armored coat, Downey Jr. found a typical old English-style package with brown paper and string. Blinking, he instinctively tossed it at the beasts.

In midair, the thing suddenly burst apart, eight fireballs with eerily discernible faces arose from it, spreading out in a slow circle, encircling the monsters. The ground below them glowed bright orange red before the fireballs began faster crossing ellipses around the enemies, now finally setting them on fire.

With a couple sideways glances, Rob remarked �That didn�t make the slightest bit of sense�� concluding with a grin and an American accent again �...but it was cool!�

�Let�s see what I can do�� Boreanaz muttered, drawing his gun. As what looked like a small telescopic sight rose out of the top, he blinked, then raised it to his eye. Through it, suddenly, the creatures� tracks were illuminated; each set of prints assigned a slight variance in color. Picking one, he fired at it.

Whatever the projectile was, upon hitting its mark, visibly lit up the tracks, leading a bit circuitously to their owner � who then glowed and exploded, showering the familiar incendiary glitter everywhere.

�How does that � what does that �� Dave began, extending an upturned palm; then clutching his crown, �I don�t know�� With another short pause, he said �Whatever.� He sniped a few more of the tracks before flicking a switch to normalize the mode of his pistol and fired flashing bullets at the piles of shining ash. As a result, he made noticeable divots in the enemy rush.

�That�s brilliant, actually,� mused Jones, before then plucking a glow that turned out to be a teacup out of thin air. A teapot faded in from a glow above it that poured the thing properly full. Giving it a quick cooling puff, Simon drank it in one smooth swig, letting out a sigh before twirling the cup around his finger briefly before striking a series of poses, then holding it with the open end facing the monsters. Though the hot liquid was now gone, steam still trailed around him where he�d waved the bone china. �The potential of an average afternoon, take THIS! Five Dudes �� nose wrinkling again prominently on the Americanism �Carmellia Simensis!�

From the seemingly empty cup, a fire hose-like blast of perfectly steeped tea, leaves, and more steam knocked more of the beasts over.

After popping off another Anglia Goosnargh, Dixon turned. With faux shock, he inquired �Do you mean to tell me you could have done that at any time?!�

�Not at all,� Simon replied, �Only when it was utterly unexpected.�

�Unexpected? With the way you announced it like that?�
�Yes, but before my presentation, no one expected it of me.�
�That�s true.�

After another pause, Jones asked �Shall we team up?�

�Can we? It�s terribly expected.�
�We�ll have to see��

Smiling, the two of them approached one another, first standing back to back with their arms and weapons � such as they were � raised, then faced forward as the things glowed, and disappeared. Their joined fists now engulfed in a glow, they drew them back then thrust them at their enemies with a �HAAaa!� in unison. They produced a braided energy blast that cleared a path right through, but not without an impressive explosion first.

�Great work, guys!� the lanky brunet said, his eyes glued to the program on his laptop screen. �Their numbers are finally dwindling. Just a few more hits and we should be in the clear.�

From atop his shoulder, the fly looked up with a sigh. Smiling, however, he merely stood up and shouted �Go get �em, guys! You can beat �em!� Getting a look from Dexter, he raised a brow. �What?�

Smirking, the lanky brunet said nothing and pushed up his glasses.

Landing after an airborne punch to a furry jaw, the red-haired one flinched and gave his knuckles a rub. �Dunno how Supes does it�� he muttered.

�Well, with super-strength, I figure,� the boy in the red-and-white jacket added, locking eyes with one of the few enemies left standing. Suddenly, he let out a choke, doubling over and clutching his chest.

�You okay?!� Olsen asked, moments before his breaths became audible as he clamped a hand over his heart likewise.

�What�s going on?� Nic asked, seeing them.

�I feel like my heart just skipped a few beats!� Marty managed to grunt, eyes open to a squint.

��David�s gotta be suffocating�!� the fly added, hanging onto Dexter�s shoulder as the bespectacled one pressed his closed laptop to his chest with crossed arms and panted.

�Well, we�d better get him back!� Dana spoke up. Moving into position for a rousing speech, he�d taken a breath when Emerson piped up.

�I�ve got a plan � it�s a little risky and a little complicated, but ��

�Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa � �SCUSE ME!� Carvey interrupted, waving then batting the air at arm�s length. �With David and Mike J. gone, that leaves me as head of this duo, got it?�

Glancing up, then raising a brow, the taller Michael asked �By what stipulation?�

Dana counted off on his fingers �One, two, three, four �� gesturing to himself and Emerson in turn �I�m three, you�re four.�

�Excuse me, but I spoke to Fox first � maybe I�M three!�
�No, you came last in the transformation lineup � you�re four.�

Rolling his eyes, Emerson went on �Oh, come on, just because you haven�t been in prime time since nineteen-ninety-three �!�

�Is this a comedy? Or what? Who does comedy better?� Carvey pointed to himself, nodding with a grin.

�I can do comedy!�
�Oh, yeah, with that mug�s mug? Suuure��

The taller Michael folded his arms. �Hey, if it worked for Leslie Nielsen, why not me?�

Blinking, DiCaprio muttered �Whoa, d�j� vu��

Behind him, Cage said �Hi, Keanu! Glad you could join the party!�

Turning with a snort, Leo snapped �Shut up!�

�Hey! MY line,� Downey Jr. said firmly, leaning in and pointing at himself.

�Hey, what happened to that stupid mouse?� Aldrin asked with a half-flinch. �He powered all the way up and disappeared!�

�Maybe he went to find Master,� Douglas suggested wheezily.

�Look, I know you�ve got the PASSION to play leader ��
�� and I know you PINE for more attention!�

�Guys �� Marty began, finally managing to take a deep, full breath.

�SHUT UP!� Rob echoed, making the remaining two of Four turn. �Look, we�ve obviously got a lot more to do that doesn�t involve you two bickering at each other like a couple of teenage girls!�

�Guys, I found a map!� Ford said, brandishing it for the others to see as he rejoined them.

�Where�d you get that?� Dana asked.

�It fell out of the sky,� Harrison said, pausing, �No, really, that�s what happened.�

Eccleston smiled slyly. �Fantastic � well, read it, let�s see what it says!�

The lot of them, �toons included, leaned in as Ford pulled the sheet taut. It was slightly sepia in tone, and had a total of forty-nine squares. Most were blank, though it had a few circles and dots. The key included interpretations of the geographical markings and the equivalent distance of inches.

��Heartstone Shrine?� the boy in the red-and-white jacket read. �Is that where we ended up putting that Charm?�

�Must be�� Emerson said, squeezing in closer and gently jabbing a finger at the map. �Which means that this is Tara�s Pantheon, and THIS is about where we are now.�

�What�s that say?� Carvey leaned in as well, �Voice�catch�Reliquary?� The so-indicated square also contained four evenly-spaced dots. �What the heck is that?!�

�No idea � but remember the line?� the taller Michael said, turning to him. ��Two then four then six then three and FOUR�. That�s the last piece of our prophetic puzzle!�

�Yeah, but how about the last-last piece? �s?� Boreanaz said, jabbing a thumb at the three humans and their identical �toons. �We still gotta figure that one out.�

�Well, maybe�� Emerson began, glancing up in thought, a hand lightly to his chin.

�If we get to the next part before we finish the last part, that part�ll finish it FOR us,� Carvey concluded, pausing, �It�s just stupid and lazy enough to work!�

�Hey, if stupid and lazy helps us get rid of Mizraie for good, then I don�t wanna be smart and�timely�� Nic mused.

�I am SO quoting you on that,� Dana said with a smirk.

�The whole thing or just the last part?�

Carvey facepalmed. �Gee, I dunno��

�Let�s get going,� the taller Michael said, �The sooner we wrap up the last of our scavenger hunt, the sooner we can work on getting David and Mike back.�

�Literally � according to this, the path to the Reliquary goes �round to Megiddo�s castle,� Chris pointed out.

�Well, great! Let�s go!� Dana stepped out in front, passing Emerson � then stopped, turned, and sighed.

Smiling, the taller Michael said �Why don�t we do this together?�

Returning it, Carvey made a light yielding gesture. �Apr�s-ski.� Getting the chuckles he aimed for, he strode alongside Emerson as the rest followed in a loose bunch.

A few miles up and down over grassy hills later, they arrived at the Reliquary. However, in addition to four ornate stone cylinders with visible narrow entrances, there was a statue of four men standing back-to-back that stood in the center. Four �toons hung in a tight circle around the monument � one that they recognized.

�Cosmo?� Aldrin called out.

The green-haired one turned, frowning with glassy eyes.

�Hey, what�s wrong?� Marty asked.

Another, scrawnier white mouse to the fairy�s left spoke up without moving. �Mizraie got to them � poit.�

�Got to who?� Downey Jr. asked. Peering at the bronze men, he suddenly recognized one, with a start. �Whoa, Daran!�

With a sniffle, a small brown bird pulled off his oversized glasses to wipe his eyes with the long sleeve of his red shirt. �We�ve tried everything � we can�t get �em to come back��

Gazing up with all three eyes, a small, mostly-black, fanged �toon said �It would seem that only the First Sage can help us now��

�Who�s the First Sage?� Boreanaz asked.

�Sweet as honey and pure as fresh-fallen snow!� Cosmo said suddenly, eyes arching.

�O�kay,� Dave said, blinking.

Suddenly, a shaped shadow fell across the monuments and the men. Looking down, the boy in the red-and-white jacket said �I REALLY hope that�s a cloud��

Dexter was the first of the �toons to turn around, craning his head back. Eyes widening briefly, his brows swept into sharp convexes as his glasses slipped. �I�m REALLY glad we�re not on TV right now�� he croaked, proceeding to add with a �toonish spasm �HOLY SHIT!�

While the monsters had been large, they hadn�t topped fifteen feet or so � unlike this one, which in perspective looked as if it might bump its head on the sun. It was a new sort of beast as well, furry, but almost pig-faced. It merely growled as it grinned down.

The Five plus �Ford�, Dana, and the taller Michael all reached for their transformation trinkets while the Two joined hands without even looking. Before any of them could say a word, the monster swung up a fist � casting a shadow for miles � and brought it down. The �toons and the humans braced themselves and winced.

However, despite the resounding sound of a strike, its crushing blow never came. One by one, they opened their eyes, seeing what the others had observed as only a blur, leaping up to block the incoming attack with seeming ease.

Casting off the beast�s hand with a mere flick of his wrist, the figure then drew what looked like a dagger � only to reveal it as a floor-length �Junior Velocity� microphone as he gave it a swing to the side. He held it like a sword to block the monster�s next blow, and the punches that followed.

While the beast was still teetering from his last counter, the figure raised the mic to his lips and pronounced �BOOM!� in a higher-pitched voice. His exclamation did nothing in itself � until he thrust it at the monster�s furry snout, unleashing a visible sonic blast that sent the thing tumbling like a piece of crumpled paper in the wind.

Touching down, the now perceivably black-haired, moustached man in a suit and tie clasped his hands and bowed his head. He had an original-model anivice around his neck, but the screen appeared to be smashed in, the rest of it scuffed and worn. �Voiceboxes�� he began softly.

�Is that�?� Carvey asked quietly.

��release the Sages from their curse!� It was more of a command than a plea � whereupon which a pin on his lapel began emitting a radiating glow. The matching medals on the statues lit up, and their eyes eerily widened before the bronze flashed and shattered. It left little as the four men stepped down onto the grass before darting over to their releaser.

�MEL!� they cried happily, surrounding him.

�We�ll talk later,� Blanc said, turning toward the beast that had since picked itself up.

With synchronous nods, the Sages raised their instruments. While D�Shon Collins, Norris, and Welker all seemed to be gripping measuring mics, Paulsen hoisted a bare subwoofer. �Harmonize, vocal power!� they chanted.

�Bit Part �Lectret!� Rickey announced, giving his a strategic swing before lightly smacking the end of it against his palm, holding it horizontal.

�Multi �Lectret!� Daran said, doing likewise before lightly smacking it into his open palm at the base of the narrow end.

�SASSy Subwoofer!� the slighty-taller Rob said, showing it off with a gentler last tap.

�Onomatopoeia �Lectret!� Frank pointed his like a sword. Jabbing it straight up, he called out �Voicecatch�Silver Sound Staaage!� A giant orb of light popped out of the mic�s narrow end.

�Voicecatch�� D�Shon Collins gave his mic another quick whirl. �Foley Sound Stage!� This, too, produced an orb of equal size � its reddish hue matching his uniform.

Norris made a few wilder spins, and a flip he just managed to land. �Voicecatch�Booth SOUND STAAAGE!�

�Voicecatch�� Paulsen gave his speaker a thrust before raising it over his head. ��Gobos Sound BURST!�

The four orbs went flying off the ends of the microphones not unlike the Four Guys� attacks, striking the humongous beast one after the other. In addition to immobilizing it, the energy also lifted it off the ground as the four Sages twirled their weapons. Daran and Rickey held theirs vertical, loosely, spinning them like Tibetan prayer wheels; the taller Rob made circles with his speaker, and Welker likewise with the narrow end of his mic. Similarly, they uttered the almost hymn-like �HAAAaaaaaAAA!� as they did so.

The beast made one last guttural groan before vanishing in a spectacular scatter. It had disintegrated enough so that only a few specks rained down on the others as they continued to watch.

�You guys are awesome!� Marty exclaimed with a smile.

�So you�re Voicecatch,� Emerson said.

�Duh!� the green-haired one remarked as the four small �toons latched onto their humans.

�But you said YOU were the Sage,� Jimmy said, pointing, �I mean, I thought you were joking, but ��

Cosmo blinked, brows convex. �I never said I was a Sage��

�Yeah you did!� the garibaldi piped up, �I heard you!�

The fairy only shook his head slowly � then looked over his shoulder, the others turning as Norris reiterated in the same high-pitched voice �I am a Sage of Forest. Well, actually just a Sage � I was joking about the forest thing.�

�Why would you just randomly say that?� Douglas asked with a raised brow, adjusting his glasses.

��foreshadowing?� Daran said, sharing a glance with the green-haired one.

�Uh, hey, Mel� � Mr. Blanc, sir,� the shorter Rob began, looking over at the First Sage.

�Yes?� Blanc said, smiling.

Downey Jr. and Boreanaz exchanged a glance, before the shorter Rob went on �You�re�dead, aren�t you?�

�Very much so,� Mel replied, as if someone had just inquired about a hobby.

�Uhhhh�� The Two glanced at one another again, eyes wider. �Shouldn�t you be�somewhere else?�

�Who�s to say?� Blanc answered with a calm grin.

Eyes darting, the human Butch piped up �Well, the Bible, of course � or the Torah, in your case.�

�Hmm�there�s more than one answer in more than one book and more answers not in any book or scroll,� Mel said, again matter-of-factly. Lightly clasping the anivice around his neck, he said �Besides, even if I no longer carry the link between worlds, I enjoy coming here�it ��

And timely as ever, a white-and-gray �toon rabbit appeared, calling attention to himself with an �Ennnhhh�� Blanc smiled as he trailed off, and the two walked toward one another. �Y�know �� Bugs jabbed a thumb over his shoulder, �lately I�ve been gettin� voiced by this real character named Jeff Bergman, but�� he paused, �I miss us. I miss what we had.�

A tight hug ensued.

Opening an eye, the rabbit went on �Oh, by the way, speakin� of Jeff and links that ain�t sausage, you can�t merge together unless you absolutely want to.�

�Is he talking about us?� the �toon Hartman asked, looking at his counterpart.

�Don�t know who the hell else he�d be talking about,� the human Seth muttered.

�By the way, I saw that skit �� Bugs began.

�Lemme guess, you didn�t like it,� the �toon MacFarlane said.

�Ennh, it was�different. But humor�s humor � lotsa stuff we couldn�t do back in the thirties and sixties and stuff. You know��

�So�you did like it?�
�I ain�t sayin�. But it�s a lot better than some of that other stuff.�
�Like that gritty sci-fi reboot?�
�Hey, my cousin�s gotta work � and if he don�t work, he don�t eat. Y�know what I�m sayin�?�
�I�m�not entirely sure now.�

�C�mon, Mel, let�s blow this joint!� Bunny said, getting a nod from the human. Together they outright disappeared.

The human Seth scratched his head. �Did�Bugs Bunny just pull a V�Ger with Mel Blanc?�

�I�m not sure,� the �toon Seth echoed, �That would be kinda weird.�

�Speaking of V�Ger,� the human Butch said, �I think I�m ready to�get my merge on if�somebody�ll tell me how to do it.�

The �toon Hartman smiled at him, nodding.

�Eh, why not? The more me, the better,� the �toon MacFarlane said with a smirk.

The Steves exchanged a glance, but the human Marmel looked away. �What�s wrong?� the �toon asked.

�Nothing, y�know, I just�don�t feel right��
�Why the hell�s that?�

Looking him in the eyes, the human Steve said �I don�t know, I just�don�t feel like being overwritten � partially overwritten by anything, by anyone. Even another me.�

�You�re not being overwritten!� the �toon Marmel said.

�Who says? Have YOU done it before?�

�C�mon, guys,� Dexter began, looking at his watch, �you�re holding this arc up, jeez�!�

�And who KNOWS what Megiddo�s doing to David and Danny by now?!� the boy in the red-and-white jacket added.

The fly rolled his eyes. �Oh, I have an idea � as does ANYone else even remotely involved in this�� Pausing, he added �Except you�you�re just stupid, I guess.�

Marty blinked; then lowered his brows, pointing a finger. �Hey! I may be stupid but�� his gaze slid upward �at least I have a career?�

�Catching the Idiot Ball with your teeth, it sounds like.�

�Don�t start, guys,� Douglas said, pausing, �Well, you already started � cut it out!�

�Look, we HAVE to do this � to stop all this crazy crap from happening,� the �toon Steve started again, �It�s not PERMANENT, it�s just�I don�t know, however-long it�ll be��

�Why are you so gung-ho about it?!� the human Marmel said, �Why is everybody so gung-ho about all this?� He eyed his counterpart again. �I mean, I mention the Tea Party and you don�t even bat an eye!�

Jimmy blinked. �What�s wrong with seventeen-seventy-three?�

�I just can�t get comfortable sharing the exact same space with somebody who actually sympathizes with those two-tongued, slimy right-wing bastards!�

Downey Jr. casually raised a hand. �Standing RIGHT here, thank you��

The �toon Steve sighed. �Look, I�m not saying they�re not slimy right-wing bastards ��

�And you�re an entitled leftist douche, wow.�

��I�m just saying that, right now, and where I come from, politics are a little less than important. I mean, I�I had to do battle with a giant boar Eisner and lose one of the best jobs I ever had. That had absolutely jack shit to do with our government. �S all I�m sayin�. Like this.�
�So I�m not gonna wake up after this is all over and find myself rooting for Boehner?�
�Not a chance. Besides, I don�t know who the fuck that is.�

At first the human Marmel raised a brow, but finally smiled, if weakly. �Okay, fine. Let�s become one in a totally-not-sexual way, then.�

Jones turned to Dixon and whispered �I didn�t know it was Guy Fawkes Night�

�Stand just there,� Mimzie advised, stepping in again, pointing to the circle where the Sages had been turned to bronze. �And you all �� she gestured to the Voicecatch four �take your instruments and hold them out just so.�

Paulsen, Norris, D�Shon Collins and Frank all took to the strange hollow columns, extending the woofer and mics at arms� length.

�Us first?� the �toon Steve asked, though a bit rhetorical as he and his counterpart stepped up onto the round platform. �So what do we have to do?�

�Speak the exact same words in the exact same way,� the girl explained, �Think the same thoughts. Be each other � be one.�

Eyes closed, both Marmels uttered a more or less synched opinion that �Nick Griffin is fucking funny.�

They repeated it a few more times, unwittingly reaching out toward one another. When they finally brushed fingertips, to their surprise, it was the �toon Steve who was more or less absorbed, leaving the human blinking. Looking down at himself, he flinched as his brain stumbled over memories of a universe that wasn�t his. Jaw dropping in an incredulous frown, he said �Oh, how did I wind up between a Brittney fan and a Hilary groupie for eight hours? That�s just cruel��

�Praise be the Lord,� was the Butches mantra. Post-merge, the human winced at a particularly jarring memory. �Did I really say that?!�

The Seths were the last to go through with it, though it almost seemed as if they�d rehearsed for it. �Laura is the face in the misty light�� they sang, �Footsteps that you hear down the hall�� They got to the sixth verse before only one of them was left to finish the piece. Even the Sages applauded after.

�We�ve only got two pieces left to our puzzle!� the taller Michael said.

�What puzzle?� the taller Rob asked as he and the other Sages emerged from the columns.

�It�s like we�re collecting Plot Coupons but all the Coupons are dudes!� Marty said. Blinking again, he turned to the other �toons. �Wow, Danny was right, this WAS written by a woman.�

�Well, first we gotta backtrack and get our other two pieces back,� Dana said, turning to Eccleston. �You said there�s a road that takes us back to Megiddo�s from here?�

�Right this way!� Chris said, lifting the map and taking the lead.

�Guess you were right,� Emerson said to Carvey.

"I'm comin', Macar!" the brown-haired boy managed to say without giggling. Reaching the top of the cord, he looked over to see the demon looming over the Latino. "AtriHIx! Don't touhouch him!"

The fiber was too long to get a swing going, especially with Norman below him weighing it down, and there was no room to jump off of it as he had onto it. Gritting his teeth, the threedesian temporarily gripped the bulb � finding it surprisingly sturdy � and then inched out along the arched beam. Unfortunately, he only got a few hand-widths before succumbing to his utterly vulnerable position, shaking with laughter as he dangled. "HAHAHAHAHA!" repeating "I'M COMIN'!" if only to egg himself on.

Norman hung at the top of the cord, eyeing the bulb. "Ich habe diesem Licht gesehen, bevor..." he muttered, then looked up with angled brows. "Halten Sie auf! Ich werde etwas zu versuchen!" Closing his eyes, he concentrated, feeling his energy flow into the fiber � which twinkled � and up into the rest of the structure. The bulb lit up, and the metal glowed.

"Ow, ohow, HOT!" J.A. cried, trying to lift his fingers away for a moment at a time, almost losing his grip.

Suddenly, the strange force field flared again. Though the blond-haired boy was miled above it, its countering energy seemed to be effective � something sparked and flashed, and with an "AAAH!" Norman was knocked back as if someone had hooked him in the jaw, nearly dropping off the cord. Leaning against it, his hair a bit frizzled, he uttered a raspy "...au-a..." He slid down the fiber a ways before readjusting his grip with a grimace and a grunt.

"WhaHAt the hell was THAhat?!" the brown-haired boy asked, looking down.

"NnNNnnh..." Still clinging to the threedesian with one hand, Norman managed to grab the platform with the other, shifting his weight a bit. "Okay, jetzt versuchen es!" he called up a little more quietly.

"Huhuh?" Feeling a little less weight, the brown-haired boy adjusted his grip, "HaHAben es! Dahahank!" Clutching the cord one fist after the other, with a muffled roar, he finally managed to drag the blond-haired boy out of the goo. Unfortunately, the feathers followed him flawlessly.

"Ahh, das viel besser ist!" Norman said, curling his leg and finally snapping the last string of goo from his sneaker. With the fiber in his reach, he clung onto it, letting the segeus clamp both feet around it. "Schnell, schnell! Ich werde verr�ckt, wenn ich nicht bekommen, hier raus jetzt!"

"Wihirst du den Mund HAhalten? Ich bin soho schnell wiehehe ich kann geHEhen!"
"Leid, leid!"
"Und h�r auhuf WiederhohoHOlung alles wie dahaHAs!"
"Okay, okay..."
"Gott, du bihist aHAHAbsolut schrecklihihich."
"HE!"
"Oho, crahap! Ahahahe meant to say that in Englihish! Dammnihit!"

Shaking his head, the blond-haired boy muttered "Quel con."

Soaking more snot and tears into his sleeve, Norman mumbled "Diese Stimme..." then fully jolted out of his own trance, whirling around and craning his head back again. "Hallo?!"

Blinking, the brown-haired boy crouched and cleared his throat. "Hallo!" he called down, "Bist du okay da unten?"

Quickly wiping away the happier tears that trickled down his cheeks as he slowly grinned, the blond-haired boy shouted "Ja, ja! Ich meine � nein, nein! Ich bin gefangen! Bitte helfen Sie!"

"Wir werden dich zu helfen, halten Sie bitte auf!" J.A. assured him, then leaned a bit further toward the edge, peering down. "Darn, I don't see a way down there..." Speaking up again, he said "Es tut mir leid, ich sehe nicht ein Weg, um da unten!"

Pivoting and rapping his forehead with his knuckles "Verdammt...denke, denke!" he finally looked up again and said loudly "Siehst du das Ding h�ngend? Ich denke, man kann klettern auf, dass!"

"Dammnit, I don't see �..." the threedesian began, then squinted, spying the thin cord's glimmer. "Ich sehe es! Ich komme runter, haltet durch!" Standing up, he stepped back, then made a running jump. With a grunt, he clung tightly to the fiber, which stretched a bit, but held. "Phew..." Slowly, he slid down it.

Glimpsing the brown-haired boy, the blond-haired one drew a breath through a wide grin. Hands in fists, he shook with his excitement, then made a joyous leap � unfortunately, off the platform, and into the teal goo. "AUAUAU-A!" he yelped, cringing as he began to quickly sink, the stuff both burning and shocking him, the sparks visible. "Ich kann mich nicht bewegen!" he grunted. "Hilf mir, bitte!"

"WhoawhoawhoaWHOA!" J.A. barked, impulsively sliding down the cord, burning himself a bit in the process "OW! Whoa, hey!" Finally he reached the end, dangling a few feet too high. "CRAP! Uhh..." He made a ballet-like point of his toe. "Grab my leg!" Giving his head a shake, he reiterated "Schnappen Sie mein Bein!"

"Kann sich...nicht bewegen!" Norman said again, teeth tightly and visibly gritted.

"Probieren Sie!" the segeus shot back. "Du musst versuchen!"

"NNH...NNNGH...AUUU...!" Norman grunted and groaned, but finally tugged an arm free, clutching at J.A.'s sneaker through his sleeve. "Ich habe dich! Nun ziehen! Ziehen!"

"Hey, that's my line!" the brown-haired boy muttered, before grunting and groaning as well, yanking on the cord. "Was ist das f�r Zeug?" he asked, looking down.

"Schmerzhafte! Einfach weiter versuchen!"
"Sehr lustig..."
"Im Vergleich zu dem, was ich durchgemacht habe? Es ist ein Aufruhr!"

Looking around, the boy noticed the trance-like state of the townsfolk, their gazes blankly fixed on J.A.'s predicament.

"What are you all looking at? Why don't you help him!?" he yelled, raising his arms, waving them as high as he could reach. Nobody even blinked.

For a few more minutes, he tried getting someone's attention, shouting and tugging on arms and clothing. Running into the nearest house, he came back out with a large pot and a wooden spoon, banging on it next to people's ears.

By chance, the pot crossed and broke the gaze of one of the woman. She blinked, looking down at Macario, shrugging listlessly, and started walking away.

"Wait! WAIT!" he cried, now thoroughly frustrated. But now he had a theory to go on, and quickly came up with a new plan. Running back into the house, he soon came back out with a blanket, working his way back up to J.A. and throwing it over the older boy, blocking him from view.

The entire crowd suddenly blinked as one, beginning to murmur amongst themselves and resuming their usual business.

With no one to watch -- not even the demons -- the enchantment faded, the feathers disappearing and the table reappearing beneath the segeus.

Pulling the blanket away, Macario saw the restraints still holding the older boy, but he grinned. "These I know how to get you out of." He chuckled, pulling a pin from his pocket and working at the locks.
