At the Fentons' home, Jazz is trying to tutor Dash. Danny passes by and is surprised that Dash is here and after Dash disses him he goes back down to the lab where he finds his dad with a new invention: The Ghost Weasel. Jack tries out the invention but ends up sucking up loose papers until the Fenton Thermos gets stuck in the nozzle. He goes back up to get the "Fenton Unlodger" while Danny is suggesting to put the Fenton Ghost Weasel in reverse. Danny does just that, and Fenton Thermos is shot out and hits the Open button next to the ghost portal, releasing a ghost called Technus. Danny accidentally gives Technus the idea of world domination and the two start fighting. Danny then gets the Fenton Ghost Weasel and sucks Technus in. However, this causes it to overload and it explodes covering the lab in green ectoplasm.

At the Nasty Burger, Dash invites Danny to his party because Jazz said she wasn't going to go if Danny was not invited. Excited of being on the popularity wagon he starts to ditch Sam and Tucker very often. At school Dash tells Danny to get some hip clothes for the party. Becuase he has to raise money to get them, he decides to sell some of his dad's stuff from the store room. Apparently some of the stuff was still covered with the ectoplasmic goo from earlier and Lancer's shaver gets possesed and attacks Danny when he is on the way home. At Sam's home, Tucker finds out that her family is actually really rich, something that she had kept secret for a very long time. At home, Danny finds out that Jazz isn't going to the party anymore which means he has to go by himself.

At the party, everyone else is wearing "loser" clothes while Danny is the only one wearing the "hip" clothes he bought. Dash reveals he changed the dress code because he didn't have enough money to get the hip clothes and forgot to tell Danny about it. Danny doesn't mix well with the other kids, which makes him realise his mistake of ditching his friends. Upstairs in Dash's room the jock's computer is possesed by Technus thanks to the computer stuff that Danny had sold to Dash. Technus fuses all the possesed goods into a giant mechanical form and Danny has to fight against him to stop Technus from upgrading himself.

The fight then leads outside where they meet Sam and Tucker who had followed the possesed remote control that Sam had bought. Danny asks them for help to defeat Technus, but because they are so angry about Danny ditching them, they refuse to help. Danny gives a desperate apology and they finally agree to help him. Sam and Tucker find a way to shut down Technus' power while Danny is distracting him. Danny then traps Technus in the Fenton Thermos and learns his lesson about being shallow. The next day at school Danny apologises to his friends about ignoring them, and he gets his revenge on Dash by filling Dash's locker with his teddy bear collection!
