Down in the lab Jack Fenton asks Danny, Sam and Tucker if they wanted to hunt ghosts. They all reject that idea, but Jack carries on anyways starting to talk about what they would need to know to in order hunt ghosts. Meanwhile, Danny's ghost sense goes off and two octopus looking ghosts come through the portal into the lab. They grab Sam and Tucker while Jack is oblivious. He carries on talking and introduces the "Fenton Thermos" while Danny fights the ghosts in the background. He defeats them while Jack continues rambling on about irrelevant stuff.

During breakfast Danny is having trouble with his ghost powers as Maddie Fenton is working on a device called a "Fenton Finder" and Jack, thinking she said that it was completed, turns it on. The "Fenton Finder" starts beeping and Danny's parents follow it until they corner Danny against the fridge. Jack is confused as he thinks that there is no way Danny could be a ghost. Just as he was about to tell his parents the truth, his sister Jazz interrupts and offers to drive Danny to school. Their parents find this weird and Jack immediatly jumps to the insane conclusion that she wasn't their daughter but a ghost!

At school Danny says its been almost one month since the accident but he still doesn't have any control over his powers. He justifies this point by unintentionally phasing down through the floor. At lunch Danny and Tucker find out that Sam has convinced the school board to change the school menu to ultra recyclo-vegetarian week, or as Danny puts it "grass on a bun". Back at the lab, a cafeteria lady looking ghost comes out of the portal. At school, Dash nearly forces Danny to eat the "mud pies" but then his ghost sense goes off and he sees the lunch-lady ghost floating around behind the counter. Danny hesitates, then throws the plate of mud at Dash's face declaring a garbage fight.

In the kitchen, the lunch lady politely asks the threesome if someone changed the menu, Tucker points at Sam and the ghost becomes enraged. Danny yells out "I'm Going ghost" and two glowing rings form at his waist transforming him into Danny Phantom. When the stoves start attacking them, Danny grabs Sam and Tucker and phases through the wall into the school corridor. They see meat stuff flying through the air in the direction of the ghost until she turns into some sort of meat monster. Danny accidently turns back human, and the ghost captures Sam and takes her away. Before they can go after her, Lancer turns up and brings Danny and Tucker to his office for punishment. Danny and Tucker phase through the floor and Danny fights with the ghost but she gets all the meat in the storage and turns into an even bigger meat monster than before. Danny gets bashed around a bit, he then sees Tucker and Sam running for their lives and he phases them through the wall leaving the ghost to crash into it.

Being so exhausted, Danny falls asleep and Sam and Tucker carry him home. When he wakes up freaks him out by saying hes been sleeping for 4 days but its only really been a few hours. Sam gets angry about Tucker messing around and Tucker then retorts that none of this would have happened if she hadn't changed the menu. The next day when Danny reaches school, he sees on one side with meat posters and barbeques, Tucker, with a whole group of meat lovers and on the other side, Sam with the vegetarians. They both jump on Danny about which side he is on, when the lunch lady ghost appears again, taking all the meat in the school grounds. They fight for a while but then Danny turns back to human form again and the little meat blobs that the lunch lady created carry him off in the air. Suddenly then Fenton Thermos hits him in the face,and before he splats on the ground he turns back into a ghost. Then using the Fenton Thermos he sucks the Lunch Lady into the thermos, ending the fight. Danny now realises why he might have gotten these powers and decides not to tell his parents about them.
